Describe how two of the most important civil rights Supreme Court cases, Plessy v. Ferguson (15pts) and Brown v. Board of Education (15pts), changed the interpretation of the “equal protection” under the law clause of the 14th amendment. The Plessy case in 1896 defined what equal protection under the law meant for African Americans, and then the Brown case in 1954 re-defined what equal protection under the law meant for African Americans. Compare and contrast both definitions.
