Discuss foreign policy of Japan in Southeast Asia since Prime Minister Abe (2012) to the present

Answering this question as a research paper: Is Japan in decline in Southeast Asia as China is rising?
– Take a stance, and make an argument
– Structure the paper as followed:
+ Discuss foreign policy of Japan in Southeast Asia since Prime Minister Abe (2012) to the present
+ Evaluate Japan’s responses to the challenges it faces in implementing foreign policy in Southeast Asia (China’s rise, etc)
+ Who are the main actors: should have a section defining who are the main actors and why (Japan, China, Southeast Asian countries particularly ASEAN, the US?, etc)
+ What do these actors want and why?
+ How the changes in making foreign policy for the past 10 years have affected (or not affected) whose preferences would be reflected in policy.
