The aim of the assessment is to capture your knowledge of inclusive education in today’s education landscape –
its benefits, its goals, its challenges, and the degree to which it may be a social imperative.
Your statement should involve some discussion on special settings and their own position within Australia’s move
towards inclusion. Clarify where you stand, and why. Do you believe all schools should embrace “full inclusion”, or
that segregation can be beneficial for some students? (If so, which and why?) Your writing should present itself as
an argument, weighing up the evidence ‘for’ and ‘against’. Importantly, you need to draw upon and reference the
literature in order to support your position. Show how current research on inclusion has helped to position your
viewpoint.
