Rough Draft: Events that have led me to be the person I am today and why I am pursuing this program:
I have faced so many challenges in life. The biggest was losing my mother unexpectedly. I went through an era after losing her that I was completely shattered and was just a shell of myself. I lost all hope and completely gave up in life.
My greatest gift came when I welcomed my son into this world.
After becoming a mom – It’s like some spark was ignited in me.
I wanted more and I knew I had to do more
Since the birth of my son, I have faced great difficulties.
My biggest disappointment came when-
My employer reneged on our agreement of me working virtually and wanted me to come into the office instead.
I just had my son 3 weeks previously via emergency c section, so that wasn’t an option for me.
I had no immediate family to help ( just me, my brother, and cousin) and couldn’t afford daycare and if I went back to work I would just be working to pay for childcare.
So at three weeks postpartum, I decided I was either going to sink or swim and baby I swam! I began to do odd jobs with a fresh healing incision while toting my newborn everywhere I went. I ran errands, painted walls, cleaned carpets, organized, cooked, cleaned, and babysat to pay my bills.
Yes, I was tired. Yes, I was scared, Yes, I felt defeated, Yes, I was hurting.
But I was on a mission. I had nothing to lose. I was already at my lowest.
Looking back I thank my previous employer because I would have still been stuck in a dead-end low paying job,
This event led me to start researching new careers.
