Hirokawa believes his research has enhanced our understanding of why even groups of intelligent and well-intentioned people can often make regrettable decisions. Briefly identify the four functional steps discussed in this theory. Explain if you agree/disagree with the premise that if groups follow the four prescribed communication processes it can usually determine if a group decision will be effective or not.
Hirokawa found that groups often talk themselves into bad decisions because their discussions result in barriers or errors found within the four steps of the group task processes.
