We know Drought and salinity are two of the most significant abiotic constraints on food production
around the world. Recent research suggests that early stress exposure can help build stress tolerance in later growth stages (Backhaus et al., 2014; Shi et al., 2016). This effect is known as “priming”. Plants are capable of storing and recalling prior experiences in order to adjust to new environmental conditions. Drought priming techniques improve plant tolerance to later drought and/or salinity stress of wheat plants.
